About

I am a composer, producer and sounddesigner for film and theater. I produce for my own music projects live and in the studio, as well as for commissions and other occasions.
Born in Bochum, Germany in 1972, I studied Applied Cultural Studies at the University of Münster, concentrating early on the study of popular culture, music and film. I started performing and working as a freelance musician during my time at university in Germany and other countries.
Since 2000 I have been working for different German city- and state-theaters, composing and performing the music for plays, dance and musictheater in Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Gießen, Münster and other cities.
I created soundtracks for plays such as Disco Pigs, The Shape of Things, Elling, Kriegerfleisch (awarded the Kleist Prize), Mother Courage and her Children, Gras, Bungee Jumping, The Idiot, Windows in Faces and Richard III, composing and producing, sometimes playing live for the performances.
I also work for a large number of independant theater production companies, among them are “Cactus Junges Theater”, “Herz und Mund”, “Lowskin”, “MA-KE”, “Rosmarin”, “Theater Sycorax” und “Zuckerhut”.
Since 2005 I am a permanent member of “Ohrpilot” a company for soundart and music theater, joining Andreas Tiedemann (director) as a audiodesigner and composer for productions such as ”Poe:lyphonie 2″ und “Orpheus Audio Splatter” (with David Moss).
In 2008 and together with director Ruth Schultz I founded “paradeiser productions“, a company for Text, Sound and Dance (“Text, Ton, Tanz”)
Besides the work for dance, theater and children and youth theater, I produce and release CDs, vinyls and downloads on my labels WAF80 music and rawcanine_records (international distribution by wordandsound, Hamburg, Germany) and play live as a keyboarder, controllerist, bassist, thereminist and singer.
With my project Resonator (with Anja Kreysing) as well as alone, I worte and produced scores and sounddesign for a number of silent-, short- and image-/industrialfilms.
in 2005 I became founding member of the Ensemble “EBE“, a networked ensemble that utilizes a software called quintet.net over the internet to create international performances, where sometimes several member play from overseas or spread all over Europe. EBE is supported by the project “bipolar” and Co-Me-Di-A and is “Ensemble in Residence” at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (University for music and theater) in Hamburg, Germany. The ensemble consists of Ivana Ognjanovic (Belgrade), Andrea Szigetvari (Budapest), Adam Siska (Budapest), Johannes Kretz (Vienna), Georg Hajdu (Hamburg) und Stewart Collinson (Lincoln, UK).
As a music professional I am beta tester for various hard- and software companies
